On October 27th, 2023, 30x30 California sent out a newsletter titled 30x30 Newsletter: The Power of 30x30 Partnerships! In the section titled “30x30 in Action: Highlighting conservation successes that will help us reach 30x30,” they highlighted the Collaborative of Native Nations for Climate Transformation and Stewardship (CNNCTS) as an example of a successful progress towards the goal of 30x30 (conserving 30 percent of California’s lands and coastal waters by 2030). Collaborative of Native Nations for Climate Transformation & Stewardship – The Climate Science Alliance, alongside long-time partners at San Diego State University, were recipients of a $7.1 million University of California Climate Action award. This funding will support the creation of the Collaborative of Native Nations for Climate Transformation & Stewardship, which represents a paradigm shift in how climate action is visioned, led, and implemented.
