Sacred Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples

Sacred Places Institute for Indigenous Peoples (SPI), based on the ancestral homelands of the Tongva people, aims to apply Indigenous knowledge to environmental justice policy and advocacy.

Role in CNNCTS

SPI will develop a list of priority research topics, programmatic areas, projects to fund through small grant/seed funds, establishing collaborations among collaborative members and external partners to co-produce research, and pilot projects to advance priority research and information needs. Additionally, their Indigenous Media team will support the project through a land rematriation documentary, and will also participate in the CSA Tribal Working Group.
